Portugal Family Pictures
You know when you travel somewhere new that’s the opposite of a busy, bustling city. It’s quiet and you can see the land for miles and miles. There’s a special feeling of serenity that washes over you. Maybe you take a deep breath that feels like you haven't taken one in months. Suddenly, all the troubles and worries of the day are gone and you are one with the air and energy around you. That is exactly how it felt taking these Portugal pictures for my friend's family.
So, I was excited when my friend, Isabel agreed to let me take photos of her and her family during our visit. And of course, she suggested we do it in the field on the land they inherited which is unbelievably beautiful. Be fair warned, when you see these pictures you might find yourself booking a flight for your very own Portugal pictures.
Isabel is a very dear friend of mine for some years. My family and I planned a trip to go visit them during my son, Leon’s spring break in April of 2022- prime springtime. Of course, this is every photographer’s dream because the scenery during Springtime is jaw-dropping. It is no different in the beautiful historical town called Alcantarilha in Portugal. Their family laughed, played, and spent time together in the hills. They were covered in yellow and white wildflowers and kissed by the soft sunset. The location was at the top of a mountain where we could look over the entire city. One of my favorite photos was of Isabel, her husband, and her youngest son, Migui standing in front of their abandoned house lit only by the light of the moon. Their beautiful property truly made for the most touching Portugal family pictures.
About The Family
Isabel and her husband have 2 boys, Migui (4 years old) and Gabriel (1 year old). It works out quite perfectly because my own son, Lincoln is only 4 months older than Gabriel. Keep reading to learn more about their story and why these Portugal pictures were so meaningful for the family!
Isabel is a very talented photographer herself. She does an amazing job of capturing the love in her family of 4. She truly has a gift for portraying life's timeless beauty through her photos. Click here to binge all of her photos on her Instagram! The land where we took the photos was passed down through generations in her family. At the time that we visited, they had an abandoned house on the property. It wasn’t liveable by any means, so we took photos around the meadow and field area surrounding the house.
Impressively enough, Isabel led a full renovation of the house on their land. We took some of their photos in front of the house before it was renovated. It is pretty spectacular to see the transformation that took place. She worked to revamp the house completely in the time since we visited. Now, their family stays in another house on the property. I personally, think it is so sweet- how they keep the house's beauty and integrity while improving and upgrading it through the years.
