Client Style Guide

Hi sweet friends…

I am so very grateful to be chosen as your photographer. What means the most to me is providing you have an experience that is full of joy and love. I want you to fall in love the moment you see your images. One piece of the experience I provide is helping you style your session. Knowing which colors and textures are the most flattering and photograph the best, and helping you put them all together for your session, is just one tiny benefit of hiring me. Cannot wait for your session.

A few of my favorite styling tips

Be Comfortable: I always find families are much more at ease if they're wearing clothes they feel confident and comfortable in

Accessories: Jewelry, hats, suspenders, knee-high socks, cardigans, vests, and hair bows can add layers and help coordinate across multiple people..

Patterns and textures: Don't be afraid to mix patterns such as florals and stripes, or plaids and polka dots. Adding in textures such as velvet, lace, crochet, and corduroy can also add visual interest.

Multiple colors: Choose 2–3 colors per palette in the same tone and sprinkle in some neutrals to avoid matching.

Outfits with movement: Picking outfits that can be flowy and show a lot of movement for the girls can create magical images. Stay away from stiff and tight fabrics. Flowy maxi dresses and skirts are great options.  If you are wanting a more casual look, wide-leg pants, colored trousers pants, or shorter dresses are also a great option.

Colored pants: If you are going for an all neutral look, or lots of earth tones, blue denim jeans can throw off the overall look. Instead, use complementary colored chinos such as olive, burgundy, khaki, grey, etc.

Flattering fits:  Accentuate what you love and don't hide your entire body.  Shift dresses can create unflattering illusions, instead, select a flowy wrap maxi that accentuates your curves without being too form-fitting.

What to avoid: Avoid large prints, patterns, and any large graphics or logos. Avoid being too matchy, matchy - Ideally, your outfits will complement each other but not blend into each other

Why Choosing Your Colors Matters

Start with a neutral palette for your base. Choose tones in cream, white, gray, or, taupe. Then add little pops of color like olive green, rust orange, sunset yellow, or terracotta.
